OpenCosmos Working Groups Discussions
Welcome to the OpenCosmos Working Groups discussion area. As member of the OpenCosmos network, you can participate in any working group and post or share your views and issues. The main aim of each working group is to foster the development of outstanding proposal ideas and consortia for the related Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe call topics. This means that posts that are normally allowed should be linked to such information e.g. related proposal ideas, requests for specific expertise and profile of partners, expressions of interest by potential partners, etc.
Structure
OpenCosmos currently hosts 21 Working Groups that are aligned with the Horizon 2020 open call topics and the upcoming ones for Horizon Europe. Each Working Group focuses on the initiation of highly innovative and impactful proposal ideas and consortia for winning grant applications.
In addition OpenCosmos in order to align with Horizon Europe structure either forms working groups that are quite broad in scope or integrates some working groups into clusters as follows:
- Broad Working Groups
- Mobility and empowerment of researchers
- Health
- Inclusive and Secure Societies and
- Cybersecurity
- Disruptive Innovation
- Sharing Excellence
- Reforming research and innovation
- Digital and Industry Cluster
- Manufacturing Technologies
- Advanced Material
- Space
- Digital Societies
- Artificial Intelligence & Robotics

- Circular, low carbon and clean industries
- Climate, Energy and Mobility Cluster
- Climate
- Energy
- Transport
- Food and Natural Resources Cluster
- Environment
- Food systems,
- Agriculture, forestry and rural areas
- Sea and oceans
The integration in clusters or the formulation of broad working groups, each having a number of intervention areas, is designed to incentivise collaboration that is
- cross-disciplinary,
- cross-sectoral
- cross-policy and
- international
for achieving higher impact and better seizing the innovation potential that is often greatest at the intersection of disciplines and sectors.
Working Approach
Each OpenCosmos Working Group and in some cases the formed clusters will meet virtually via forum discussions here.
You can access each one of the current 21 working groups or categories virtually below. Members in working groups that are part of any of the three clusters above are encouraged to participate in all the working group/categories discussions within their cluster for advancing knowledge that is cross-disciplinary, cross-sectoral, cross-policy and international.
